When selecting an Si-TPV for an over-molding application, the substrate type should be considered. Not all Si-TPVs will bond to all types of substrates.

Application

Si-TPV soft TPU particles are an innovative vulcanized thermoplastic silicone-based elastomer (silicone TPV) that combines the flexibility of rubber with the processing advantages of thermoplastics.SiTPV is low odor, plasticizer-free, and easy to bond to a wide variety of substrates, including PC, ABS, PC/ABS, TPU, PA6 and similar polar materials.Si-TPV is especially suitable for applications such as suction cups and is an ultra-soft, environmentally friendly solution.

PVC: PVC material is considered to be extremely high in the rate of household goods materials, but due to the harmful effects of plasticizers on the human body, many manufacturers gradually began to look for new materials to replace it. In addition, the compression permanent deformation rate of PVC is relatively large, aging resistance is also general, so it is not a qualified material used in suction cups.

Rubber: rubber in the suction cup application rate is high, but its processing cycle is often, low recycling rate, high cost. In addition, in terms of environmental protection, rubber has a big odor and other problems.

Silicone: silicone material is synthetic rubber, made of a variety of materials, complex production process, raw material prices are higher, higher processing costs. Silicone high and low temperature, oil resistance is better, but its wear and aging resistance is relatively poor. Tensile resilience is poorer than TPE.

TPE: TPE belongs to thermoplastic materials, but the gum content is high, recyclable. Superior processing performance, no vulcanization, can be recycled, reduce costs. But the general TPE is more suitable for the production of some small weight-bearing small suction cups, if the conditions of use of the suction cup weight-bearing requirements are very high, TPE can not meet the requirements.

This makes the suction cups more durable in use and has a longer life. Anti-aging: soft modified TPU material has a long-lasting stable smooth feel, long-term use of non-dissolving sticky, no oil anti-aging, no post-treatment, simplify the processing technology, cost savings. Flexibility and elasticity: soft modified TPU material has high elasticity and flexibility, can adapt to different shapes and surfaces of the workpiece. It can better fit the surface of the workpiece and provide better sealing and adsorption effect, thus increasing the stability and reliability of the suction cup.
In addition, the product offers processing properties similar to those of traditional TPE materials, as well as excellent engineering physical properties and acceptable compression set at room and elevated temperatures. Si-TPV elastomers typically require no secondary processing, resulting in shorter cycle times and lower production costs. This elastomeric material provides a better silicone rubber texture to overmolded finished products.
